LINCOLN HIGH SCHOOL RODEO - 2026

The Lincoln High School Rodeo meets on weekends September 19-20, October 17-18, and November 14 – 15, 2026. These are amazing Rodeo “kids” aged about 8 – 18, and they compete — bull riding, bronco riding, calf roping, barrel racing, and “slalom” racing through gates.  These weekends are fun and a great opportunity to take Photojournalism pictures. Best lens, for me, has been my 18-200mm, and I shoot continuous and fast shutter speed. It’s usually sunny out so ISO of 200-600 is probably fine, depending on what you want to photograph. Best to wear shoes and socks as it’s dirty there !  Don’t wear your best clothes. You can shoot from the stands or from the fenced areas, just walk around and decide where you want to be. Wear sunscreen and maybe a visor or baseball cap to shade your eyes.  Probably not great for mobile phones but you can always give it a try. These events happen at 17 Lincoln Blvd., Lincoln and go from early to late , depending on when the sun starts to fade. Bring water and food unless you want to buy some of the hot dogs and burgers they sell there. After the main competitions, they will be going to Red Bluff until they return in January or February 2027.
